Dexter Elected Vice-President of ITAC

Dexter has been elected Vice-President of the Coconino County Inter-Tribal Advisory Council (ITAC), which serves as an official liaison and communication link between Native American communities and the county government. ITAC reviews and makes recommendations regarding proposed legislation, assists in planning policies, promotes cultural activities and hosts community forums affecting Native Americans in Coconino County. Among other accomplishments, ITAC recently helped establish the Louise Yellowman County Park Block Watch Program in response to ongoing graffiti and vandalism at a newly established public park in Tuba City. Congratulations, Dexter!

How does she do it?

Every year on April 18, Susan’s age decreases. This year she is celebrating her 30th birthday. Next year it might be her 20th. We think she just doesn’t like to blow out all those candles anymore. Happy birthday Susan! Enjoy your youth in Texas!

Intrinsic Awarded Two Statewide Contracts

Intrinsic recently started working on a series of informational marketing brochures for Arizona’s Scenic Byways. The brochures will augment the visitor’s experience by pointing out the many scenic, archaeological, natural, historical, recreational and cultural sites along each roadway. Intrinsic also will be updating the Arizona Department of Transportation publication, “Application Procedures for Designation of Parkways Historic and Scenic Roads in Arizona.” This project is a simple “how to” guidance book geared toward anyone interested in having their favorite Arizona roadway designated as either a parkway, historic road or a scenic road.

Happy 17th –can you believe it– to Emily!

Jason’s oldest daughter turns 17 years old this month – unbelievable for a young parent to accept. Emily, or Ed, as her friends like to call her, is enjoying her junior year at St. Joseph’s High School in Ogden, Utah. She likely will be one of the first students to graduate from St. Joseph’s new art program. Emily also teaches an art class at the school and will be performing in the upcoming school play, “Pippin,” as an actor and dancer. Congratulations, Ed, on nearly reaching adulthood!

Susan’s Heart for the Arts

Arts from the Heart, a local nonprofit organization that provides cultural art experiences to Wimberley area students, has asked Susan to assist as Art Education Coordinator. Susan will assist with afternoon workshops, one day a week, for elementary and middle school students during February and March. The program, which started in response to school district budget cutbacks, offers classes in visual arts, music, poetry, dance and drama. Students participate free of charge; all efforts are sustained through donations and special fundraising events. The program, now entering its 10th year, also is the fortunate recipient of the University of Texas Performing Arts Outreach Program, which provides complimentary tickets and transportation to major cultural art events that otherwise would be too expensive for many children to attend.
