Susan Facilitated FLOW Conference
10/13/08

Susan was in San Antonio to help facilitate the Instream Flow Council's 2008 conference on Oct. 7-9, 2008. The conference theme was, "Interdisciplinary Solutions to Instream Flow Problems." The conference offered inspiration and tools to address instream flow issues and opportunities to contribute to strategies for instream flow problem-solving in the U.S. and Canada. Water allocation issues can pit multiple stakeholders and agencies with contending views against each other. Conference participants learned how to assess and build consensus in these situations. Susan's role was to help participants devise creative methods for finding balance between science, diverse interests, and laws and policies.

Intrinsic's Recent EPA work
10/13/08

Dexter recently co-facilitated a tense public meeting in Grants, NM, as part of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ongoing remedial actions at the Homestake Mining Company Superfund Site. Blending Dex's compassionate demeanor with the keen understanding of fellow co-facilitator Lucy Moore, they were able to keep the meeting on track and accomplish meaningful dialogue between residents and regulatory agencies. Intrinsic is also working with the EPA, the Gila River Indian Community and the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona on a pilot project known as CARE, or Community Action for Renewed Environment. The CARE program seeks to develop a grassroots community consortium to identify, prioritize and develop plans for sustainable environmental clean up projects throughout the Gila River Indian Community.

Intrinsic Staff and Family Happenings

Susan and her beloved, David, are celebrating their first anniversary this month! We're certain that they'll be enjoying and appreciating each other for many years to come. Congratulations Susan and David! Jason's younger daughter, Alexxanthe, is celebrating her 14th birthday this month as well. Everyone who bet that Jason would lose his sanity after a year with two teenagers should receive their money by the end of the month, and we're not taking any more bets on the matter. Happy birthday Alexxanthe!
